Mark Black

Mark Black, a specialist in guiding our European Alps adventures, brings a diverse background to his work as a Trip Leader. He holds an MFA degree from the University of Arizona and is also an expert natural history interpreter of Arizona’s unique Sonora Desert ecosystem. After graduate school, Mark worked as a hiking guide at Canyon Ranch Resort in Arizona and that part-time job developed into a career as a professional guide. “At an early age, on travels in the Rockies with my family, I became fascinated with the mountain world and the adventure it inspires. The chance to experience the Alps on foot is a unique joy—a walk through history, diverse traditions, and immense natural beauty all at once.” When not guiding in the Alps, Mark co-directs an art gallery, leads hikes in the desert, and spends time with his two children.
